Auma extended its proven modular concept with the introduction of the Generation .2 series of actuators and controls. With a pol-icy of continual product development to pre-empt user requirements, a number of new features have been added since the launch of the range. Advancements in-clude a Modbus RTU interface which benefits data transfer speed and safety. The Modbus initiative triples the maximum possible data transfer rate, and significantly reduces the feedback time of actuators in the loop, which improves the overall response time of the system. Additionally, an integral PID controller provides added functionality. Designed to facili-tate a number of process control tasks without the need for addi-tional control, applications benefitting from the new functionality include level control of decentral-ised reservoirs: filling level sensors connected to an Auma actuator result in automatic and autonomous regulation by integral controls.
