Two powerful plate magnets are mounted onto the outside of the stainless steel (304) casing and, depending on the design, sepa-rate out coarse and very fine iron particles from various material flows. One advantage of this external core mounting arrangement is that bridge formation and blockages can not occurinternally. The external core magnet can be installed in free-fall pipes or pneumatic transport pipes and is suitable for the plastic, recycling and animal feed industries, as well as for the pharmaceutical and food industries. For the recycling, plastic and animal feed industries the external pole unit contains fer-roxdure magnets. For the pharmaceutical and food industries, neodymium-iron-boron (Neoflux(r)) magnets are used. The casing is completely smooth, weld seams are finished off so that no breeding ground is created for bacteria. Both types have a varied use in filler pipes and for loading silo’s. Cleaning is undertaken using an extractor plate on the magnet. The external pole magnet is available in various types up to an inlet/outlet diameter of 300 mm.
