The valve series MK501 is operated by the pressure of the process and requires no external power supply. This makes it an ideal, cost effective choice for general service back pressure control applications such as maintaining constant pump discharge pressures, bypassing excess pressure around process equipment, and maintaining specified pressures within autoclaves and other process equipment and machinery.
An interesting design feature in the MK501 series is the use of the sliding gate seat. The seats are made up of two primary parts: a movable slotted disc and a stationary slotted plate that align to precisely control pressure or flow. The disc glides vertically up and down on the plate to regulate the service media that passes through the orifices. Because of the vertical orientation of the seating components, the flow passes straight through the seat orifices, providing the benefits of reduced turbulence, and decreased velocity, noise and wear. The MK501 series is suitable for use on steam, water, oil, gas, air, and chemical services. To meet a wide range of service conditions, the valves can be specified in ductile iron, bronze, carbon steel, stainless steel, and a variety of exotic alloys including Monel, Alloy 20, Hastelloy B, Hastelloy C, and Titanium. They are available with threaded or flanged end connections.
