The Viton Extreme ETP family of peroxide cured fluoroelastomers has been designed for severe sealing applications requiring a combination of heat, fluids, and base resistance with low temperature flexibility not obtainable with normal fluoroelastomers. Key applications include custom moulded parts and seals for the oil field and petrochemical industry, and wher-ever a long-term sealing upgrade or extra measure of fluids re-sistance is required. Viton Ex-treme ETP has a polymer structure containing a tetrapolymer of ethylene (ETP). The design endows the fluoroelastomer with outstanding resistance to bases such as organic amines and potassium hydroxide, to polar fluids such as ketones, methyl t-butyl ether (MTBE) and alcohols, as well as to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, motor oils, hydraulic fluids and fuels. Two products of differing Mooney viscosities are available – Viton ETP-500 with a nominal 45 to 50 Mooney, suitable for compression moulding into O-rings, gaskets and seals and nominal 80 to 90 Mooney Viton ETP-900, better suited for transfer and injection moulding into tubing and O-ring cord.
