The Accord ActiveX Chemistry Control allows providers and Web developers to create HTML pages that contain ‘active’ chemical objects, rather than just static GIF images. Active chemical contents may be transferred to and from other desktop applications, such as chemical editors, spreadsheets and word processors. It brings chemical content to life within Web browsers and other ActiveX-enabled environments, such as Visual Basic, Delphi and Oracle Developer/2000. The program allows chemical structures and reactions retrieved from the Web to be displayed and manipulated within a Web browser and interchanged with other desktop applications. Similarly it can be used to submit chemical queries to chemical database servers via Internet or corporate intranet and display search results, alongside related text and numeric data, directly in an HTML page. It is scriptable using VBScript or JavaScript and is Data and Web URL-aware. Because the control utilises the same underlying Accord chemistry engine as other Accord desktop products, it understands a host of chemical formats, including native Accord, Smiles strings, CAS CXF files, ChemDraw files, MDL Molfiles and Rxnfiles.
