The cumulus air flow indicator shows the direction of weak air currents. It consists of an instrument for the production of the clouds and an ampoule containing a highly-molecular alcohol mixture. A small element heats the fluid which condenses to a cloud upon contact with the ambient air. Temperature and quantity of fluid are co-ordinated electronically. Applications are the testing and adjusting of air conditioning systems, the monitoring the ventilation efficiency of heating systems and laboratory installations. Additionally, air current detection can be used to detect leaks and to test the integrity of air-tight systems and investigating the disper-sion of vapour or gaseous contaminants in the work-place.
