The cascade air separator, designed for a pellets throughput of up to 1000 kg/h, serves to separate fine particles from plastic pellets. It consists of three separation stages. In the first stage ferromagnetic particles are retained by means of a magnetic separator. The ionizer in the second separation stage neutral-izes the electrostatic charge of the pellets. The last separation stage, located in the lower section, was designed as a rising separator. The pellets enter centrally from above. The fine particles adhering to the pellets are released by means of the multiple, alternating impacts on the outer surfaces of the deflector cones and the parallel housing inner surfaces. They are then carried upwards, together with the remaining fine particles, and separated in a subsequent dedusting filter. The pellets leave the separator through the outlet at the bottom. The stainless-steel separator has no moving components and is accordingly subject to low wear and requires little maintenance. The clearance-free design and electro-polishing of the surfaces which come into contact with the product reliably ensure that there are no deposits of fine particles.
