Flakers with variable roll pressure

Flakers are used to process oilseed for subsequent extraction processes. The ZWG 601 series flaker is available in three different sizes, having roller lengths of 1000 mm, 1250 mm and 1500 mm respectively, with 75 kW, 90 kW, and 110 kW corresponding drive systems. The individual throughput ratings vary with the nature of the product, the feedstock charasteristics and, in particular, the flake thickness required. The welded machine housing comprises robust steel fabrication, rigidly interconnected with strong tie-bars. The internal surfaces of the fabricated supporting stands and the frame covers form the flaking chamber. The two flaking rolls, each of 600 mm diameter, are made of chilled cast iron and have a hardness of approximately 530 HV. These are specially fluted, ground and dynamically balanced. The Flakers operate with an roll pressure which is infinitely variable between 50 and 80 bar; this pressure is exerted by a combination of hydraulic pump and power cylinders, the control of which is incorporated within the flaker control panel. Serious damage to the roll faces, from the ingress of foreign bodies within the feedstock, is avoided by a relief system.
